Jake & Heidi’s wedding and after session Nov 27-28, 2009

I was really excited to photograph this wedding because of my personal connection to Heidi and Jake. Jake was in our church’s youth group when Natalie and I were advisors about fifteen years ago and Heidi’s uncle is our pastor. Jake used to bring his guitar to help me lead worship on Wednesday nights while Heidi grew up in Japan where her parents are missionaries.

Jake and Heidi had their wedding and reception at Grace Church in Middleburg Hts. Heidi’s father Don walked her down the aisle, gave her away and then took his place on the platform to marry them, (how cool is that?). There were two firsts for me at this wedding ceremony. Heidi and Jake led the congregation in some worship songs, (they sounded great together, btw) and they saved their very first ever kiss for the altar.

Since both the ceremony and reception were at the same location we didn’t have time to go to another location to take photos, so I suggested an after session. We scheduled it for the next day and started the session at Baldwin Wallace College. Then we headed to The Book & Bean in downtown Berea, where Heidi and Jake had their first date. They were so glad to have photos taken there since we found out that it would be closing a little more than a month later.

Jake was one of my favorite youth group kids. It’s great to see the man that he has become and to see that he has found such a fantastic life partner in Heidi. All the best to you two!
